Babywise is a type of sleep method that follows a babies natural rhythm of eat, wake, sleep. This method is structured in a way that will help create structure for you and your little one.

Within this blog you will learn that the Babywise approach is based on 3 events in a baby's day.

  1. Eat

  2. Play

  3. Sleep

In this exact order.

I followed this method from day one with my little one. It helped us get started on a routine.

EAT-

The Babywise approach focuses more on a scheduled feeding than a feed on demand schedule based on age appropriate time intervals.

PLAY (Wake Window)-

Wake windows are limited when your babe is so teeny tiny so every moment counts!

What is a wake window you may ask: according to Babywise

“Wake time is the time between eating and sleeping as it part of the crucial Eat-Wake-Sleep cycle that Babywise sleep techniques and strategies revolve around.”

The wake window is the ‘play’ part of Babywise’s approach.

Keeping your baby awake after a feeding is an important step in your structured day … activities for each age group page

Babies go through so many developmental milestones. In order to grasp a certain concept (rolling over, sitting, crawling, etc) they need to practice. Use these "wake windows" to practice! This will get your babe tired out and ready for a great nap!

SLEEP-

By separating feeding and sleep with play this helps to not create a bottle as a sleep association. One of my favorite Instagrams to follow is BabySleepDr. She has awesome tips for sleep. Check out one of my other posts regarding sleep for great sleep habits.
